How To Make Frozen Dinosaur Eggs

You can have so much messy dinosaur fun making these super cool Frozen Dinosaur Eggs and they are so easy to make! Your dinosaur loving kids will really enjoy making them, and the fun doesn’t stop there!

Playing with ice is a fabulous sensory activity for your little ones to explore as they try and hatch the dinosaurs from the ice.

What you will need

Before you begin make sure you have the following messy play items ready:

  • Balloons
  • Small plastic dinosaurs
  • Water

That’s all you need! Fabulous right? Oh – you’ll need a freezer too!

Messy instructions

Help your dinosaur detectives follow these easy instructions, and they will have made their first Frozen Dinosaur Egg  in no time.

Before you start you want to stretch the balloon about 10 times. Then blow it up and let the air out. Now its time to get your dinosaur in the balloon. Be careful, you may lose a few balloons in this process.

  1. Place a plastic dinosaur inside one of the balloons
  2. Carefully fill the balloon with water and tie a knot in the end.
  3. Pop the balloon in the freezer – be careful not to squish it out of shape!
  4. When the balloon is completely frozen solid, take it out of the freezer and peel the balloon away.

And that’s it! Super simple right? Your cool dinosaur egg is finished!

Now the icy messy play can begin as you try and hatch the dinosaur from the egg! Melting the frozen egg in water is the easiest way to hatch them, but why not let the kids have fun bashing and chiselling away at the egg to crack it open?
